Why would you want to $$$$ every month for something you would use 2x-4x yr. Short of being a dealer never heard of such offered for pre '90 tractors. And shop rate of $85 + covers these expensive sites for the independent auto shopsbuy original on epay from binder book or others plenty of others will take your $$$ for poor xerox copies or china cd. I would suggest that you register your self on the case IH site, they have what is called my shed. You put in Farmall c for example, in there are all parts manual sections for Farmall c ???? also I find it hard to get to the Farmall c at this site do not give up it is there.
Messick's also has parts manuals butt you have to search every time for Farmall c, super c or 560, see what mean, whereas IH has when you log in your tractor in your shed of tractors, which is easy to find what your looking for such as touch control, or differential etc.this what I use, don't need paper parts manual now, what I suggest.as far as the owners manual I would b a good looking orginal from one our venders at the IH shows, or eBay. 560 DennisThanks for info & reply. I use IH Parts on-line all the time.religiously.Perhaps I was unclear in my op, I'm looking for service manuals online, or cd, not OM or parts. Link below takes me to the SC section of the IH parts on-line.
Manual Galleries - Our manuals are categorized first as Farmall or OEM, and then as General, Implement (including the tractor,) Parts, or Service publications. Select your category (eg. Farmall Parts), and visually locate your manual in that collection, then click on its image or name. Components, Farmall C tractors deliver outstanding maneuverability and stability in the tough terrain of hay operations. Equip your Farmall C with a Case IH mower-conditioner, baler or loader and handle any job. Loader attachments include buckets, blades and pallet forks – along with bale forks, bale probes, grapples and more.
Of course, many of the parts have been superseded, but the parts guys locally know this. The original parts # is often when the OEM suppliers refer to however. On-line is very helpful indeed.and it's FREE!! Not trying to bash the folks selling paper copies however. Everyone has their personal preferences.
Would anyone PAY a fee to have access to an IH service manual library if it had all the service manuals??You could pay per visit or pay a monthly/yearly unlimited visit rate.I'm curious to see what kind of response this may generate. I'm getting closer to having just such a site ready to be unleashed.I would be interested, I work on quite a few models of IH tractors at my shop and have a good stack of IT manuals, but they don't have nothing on the factory originals like the former IH dealer still has that I worked at.
Been hoping they would sell out and I could get ahold of them, but they only have them up to the 66's, so I would still be short. MattI'm one of the 'unusual' ones that would pay. I think the paper product folks charge for their wares, why not something digital costing also?
When one converts paper manuals to digital, you only have to do it once. Folks that are in the business of printing usually hire the printing done. How many do you order & stock? You sit on inventory a couple of years until you get into the 'green' & make a profit. Then you run out & have to re-order going back into the red.
If he decides to go on dvd with copy protect, those can be burned again quickly.even burned per order. Minimal inventory, if any.Re.
Copyrights, how are the folks that reprint (or attempt to!) the IH books of old? We've got a drawer full of IH manuals. Some original, some reprints from various sources, obviously from varied methods also.
Some of the reprints are good, some make you think you could've done better on your own computer printer. How does IH allow the sale of the those blurry copies with darkened, barely recognizable photos is a good question also.I hope Ken is able to follow thru with his product. I want digital copies of service manuals & as of yet I'm sriking out. BTW, if Ken offers his product, we've got about different IH products I'd buy the SM for. This project is still a long ways from being done, but it is good to see that people are interested. (There are MANY more books to scan/dpdf) I want CLEAN, CLEAR copies and they are hard to get/make.The 'fee/admission' charge is not a definite thing yet. There is a COST associated with creating these, trying to find a way to cut that down.My biggest concern is the ebay vultures who would copy these/pirate them and re-sell them.
I run into this with them on IH books a lot.One MAJOR advantage I see that a PDF book has over a paper copy is that you can print a page(s) off and take it your workbench. If you spill oil on it or start it on fire with a torch (by accident of course!!).print ANOTHER copy. You didn't just wreck a $100 book (or if you are working on a MAGNUM.$800 book!!).As far as books themselves.I like paper copies!!!! I figure that someday it will be something to buy at my estate sale.LOL. Here's the 411 on the life of a copyright.(I sure wish ROYALTY payments lasted this long!!!) LOLHow long does a copyright last? The term of copyright for a particular work depends on several factors, including whether it has been published, and, if so, the date of first publication. As a general rule, for works created after January 1, 1978, copyright protection lasts for the life of the author plus an additional 70 years. For an anonymous work, a pseudonymous work, or a work made for hire, the copyright endures for a term of 95 years from the year of its first publication or a term of 120 years from the year of its creation, whichever expires first.
For works first published prior to 1978, the term will vary depending on several factors. To determine the length of copyright protection for a particular work, consult of the Copyright Act (title 17 of the United States Code). More information on the term of copyright can be found in, Duration of Copyright, and, Copyright Basics.
